Signed up for the Castell Grind and figured the hardtail 29er would be great.  Then I got to thinking that maybe a cross bike might make a better mode of conveyance. While searching online for a cross style bike I stumbled upon self proclaimed gravel grinder bikes.  There seems to be a sub-culture of resurrected retired bikes that are re-purposed into back-road warriors. Well that sounded interesting. So I decided to retrieve my twice repainted 1987 Peugeot PSN10 and bring it back to life.

Original brochure can serve as a suitable 'before' pic:

I bought this steed brand new from World Cycle in Austin TX.  Probably spring of 1988 since I got a deal for buying 'last years model'.  I have put thousands of miles on this bike. This bike got me through the Wimberley Hillacious, the Tyler Beauty and the Beast, and various routes though Central Texas during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

I made a few mods to the bike along the way.  The most significant was the addition of some hand built Mavic GP4s on Campagnolo Nouvo hubs mated with a Suntour 6sp freewheel. Next, was the replacement of the crankset with the C-Record setup (53/42).

That's the way it stayed for 20 or so years.  The repaints were due to corrosion,  the tires dried up, and I was off with other time wasting bikes, beer, and running. Now its back wasting my time once again.  But it will not be ridden in this form.  Time for a rebuild.
